Blood Hounds

BLOODHOUNDS Bloodhounds are a breed of dog that is trained to follow a scent trail until they come to the end and catch or tree their prey. I am told that the really good bloodhounds hate the prey that they are tracking and want to catch it and if they do catch it they will tear the animal to shreds. I am also told that if the bloodhounds are tracking you there is one thing that you can do to…

Experiencing Refuge In Christ

Experiencing refuge is not something I have been familiar with until recently. The story of my walk with God began when I was very young. I was raised in a Christian family who daily taught me about the Lord. I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was 5, young enough that I prayed the the sinner’s prayer several more times during my childhood to re-affirm my faith. For several years I structured my life and activities around using…

A Man Walks Into A Bar

A man walks into a bar … carrying the weight of the shame that he has accumulated in the past from poor decisions and hurtful interactions with others, he falls into the bar stool. Heavy hearted, he orders a drink…then another…then another…buying momentary relief. Happy just to escape for an hour or two…ahhhhh! … ‘numb’. Getting home he throws off caution and drinks to his burdened hearts content. Reading the bottle, he follows the directions, “take for pain…AS NEEDED”. Welcome…

“God must hate me” – A true story

When I was about 19, I wasn’t sure God liked me. In fact, I couldn’t see how he could stand me.  I had been raised in church, and had heard all my life that God loved me. I had sung the song “Jesus loves me, this I know” since I was little. But I knew also that God was “holy” – whatever that meant – that he was completely pure and good, and that evil was repulsive to him. So…
